The launch of a new community of educators working together to share and develop their Froebelian knowledge and experience of working with babies and young children.

The Froebel Trust is proud to offer grants to groups of educators who are keen to support each other, to share their Froebelian expertise and experiences working in early years settings and schools. The Trust now supports over 14 different networks across the UK - dynamic communities of practice which allow educators to share and develop their knowledge and skills.

The launch of the Froebel Network Wales this month is a clear indicator of a revitalized Froebelian movement in early years settings and schools. In the last year alone, nearly 200 Welsh educators have taken part in a Froebel Trust Short Course. There has been a surge of interest in Froebelian education in Wales recently, thanks in part to close alignment of a Froebelian approach with the Curriculum for Wales.

The Froebel Network Wales is a grassroots group with a collective commitment to a Froebelian approach - led by and for educators. It is an active community of practice; developing and working towards a shared goal, engaged in learning together to create a collective repertoire of resources that will transform young children’s educational experiences for the better.

Dr Sacha Powell, CEO, Froebel Trust gave a speech at the launch of the Froebel Network Wales on 12 October 2024.

"Together with our Lead Tutor, Dr Stella Louis, I am delighted to be able to represent the Froebel Trust at the launch of the Froebel Network Wales. This day is a celebration of a collective commitment to Froebelian principles - bringing together many early childhood educators, schools, settings and local authorities who have engaged enthusiastically to develop their own unique research and practice. The launch event provides time and space to deepen connections with each other to strengthen this unity of purpose, and to reconnect with Wales' Froebelian histories."
