FROEBEL TRUST STUDENT BURSARIES
Are you a UK-resident student who is currently studying one of the Froebel Trust's Endorsed Courses or who graduated from one of these courses in 2024? Froebelian doctoral students who are UK-resident are also eligible - your study must promote and advance Froebelian principles in education and learning.
Do you want to attend the conference but find that price is a barrier to attending? If so, you can apply for a bursary.
The Froebel Trust will award up to 12 student bursaries to attend the IFS Conference in 2025.
Each bursary is worth up to £1,000. It covers the conference registration fee and 3 nights' accommodation at Das Kehrs Hotel auf Dem Petersburg (on 30 & 31 July and 1 August) plus a contribution of up to £300 towards travelling expenses associated with attending the conference. The hotel is located 1.4km from Erfurt University (c. 20 mins on foot). We reserve the right to amend the hotel booking and its location. Bursary holders must organise their own travel and insurance to cover the trip and then claim reimbursement from the Trust.
To apply for a bursary, please complete the online application form before the deadline of 1pm on Thursday 20 March 2025. The bursaries are available to UK-resident students. Before applying, please make sure you have read and agree to the terms below. By applying, you are committing to attending the conference if you are awarded a bursary.
Terms of the award:
- If you are awarded a bursary, you will be notified before the early bird rate ends on 29 March and you must register for the conference yourself before this date. When you have registered and notified us of this, the Froebel Trust will pay your registration fee to the IFS. Your award may be withdrawn if you do not register by 29 March.
- Applicants must be resident in the UK (including at the time of the conference). Travel expenses will apply between the UK and Germany only.
- The bursary award is at the discretion of the Froebel Trust trustees.
- The Trust reserves the right not to enter into negotiation about its awarding decisions and cannot provide feedback to unsuccessful applicants.
- The Trust reserves the right to amend hotel accommodation, if necessary. For example, if the accommodation provider is unable to fulfil the reservation. A suitable alternative will be offered.
- A cash equivalent cannot be claimed except in relation to reimbursement of expenses as indicated above. Proof of expenditure will be required.
- Reimbursement of travel expenses up to a maximum of £300 will be for standard class fares. Please consider the environment when making your travel arrangements. The Froebel Trust is unable to make travel arrangements on behalf of bursary holders.
- Bursary holders must hold suitable travel insurance to cover the trip to the conference and will be responsible for making their own visa arrangements, if required for entry to Germany and return to the UK.
- Award holders will be expected to engage fully in the conference programme, which starts on 31 July and ends on 2 August.
- Except in exceptional circumstances, non-attendance at the conference will result in the award holder being liable for the conference registration and accommodation fees, and any travel expenses already paid by the Froebel Trust to the award holder.
- All award holders will be required to submit a short report to the Froebel Trust on their conference experience by 31 August 2025.
